Project Management
Our name says it all: our team can manage your shipping and installation projects from start to finish. We will survey your site to assess your needs and determine the optimal course of action with your ultimate goals in mind. Acumen can easily accomplish projects big and small.
International Shipping
Recognized by the TSA as an Indirect Air Carrier, as well as having in house customs brokers, we ship globally and maintain relationships with art handling/shipping companies on every continent. If one of our own isn’t on the job at a destination, a service partner will receive and install shipped materials. We adhere to the highest standards of transport and our trusted network ensures full accountability.
Transport
Acumen’s air ride suspension and climate controlled vehicles protect the condition of your art. Our skilled technicians and drivers move large-scale works at competitive rates in specialized trucks that match the door and interior box heights of a standard tractor trailer, thus allowing us to transport any sized crate without incurring the additional costs associated with tractors or special permits.
Installation
With decades of experience working in both the contemporary art world and with old masters, Acumen has been the go-to art handling company of many discerning clients; we are expert problem-solvers in the field. And while we are well-versed in complex installations, be they heavy rigs or ornate masterworks, we welcome smaller scale jobs, too.
Packing
Our experience informs our decision making when it comes to packing works of art; we are ever up on industry-standard materials and best practices. Soft packing works best for local transport. We can provide a simple slip case, a shadowbox, or fold/roll a canvas. Alternately we can move a gilded altar through a plate-glass window. You name it.
Crating
We are Northeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association (NELMA) compliant and our styles range from one/two-way crates to travel frames.
Storage
We pride ourself on secure, monitored, and climatized storage facilities. We offer private vaults that can be maintained by a dedicated staff member. Our upstate storage facility in Poughkeepsie, NY (90 minutes north of midtown Manhattan) is accessible via free shuttle service or the Metro North railroad, and offers the same services as our locations in New York and Los Angeles.
Viewing Rooms
Acumen facilities have rooms designed for private client viewings, photography and large-scale condition assessment projects. In-house staff can assist with all your needs.
Art Fairs
Members of our team have circled the globe and we proudly maintain a presence on the international art-handling stage. We can format your shipment for domestic and/or international shipment, and provide an Acumen technician at your booth.
